About Us

The Program (continued)

Dominant right brain learners do best when they can learn through rhythm, movement, and visualization. A movie has all of these components. Therefore, they are able to take in the information quickly and accurately. Utilizing these strengths for learning allows us to customize all learning situations including spelling words, math, reading comprehension, using a study guide, and written expression. One strategy that can be implemented in the classroom immediately would be to reduce rote repetition, i.e., writing spelling words 5 times each. Rote repetition is the lowest level of accuracy and highest level of frustration for right brain learners. It is truly that easy for the child, parent and teacher, once the child’s learning strengths are identified.

My program is simply a paradigm shift from the traditional way we label, assess, teach and treat children. Traditionally we focus on children’s weaknesses. We label base on those weaknesses. We write treatment plans and place children in special education classrooms based on those weaknesses. I would like to challenge you to see the child, treat the child, and educate the child from a different angle. Each of us, as individuals, naturally learn new tasks and lessons through refinement of our strengths. The older we get, the more we move away from our weaknesses and toward our strengths. Why can’t we do the same for children who are struggling in the classroom? Why shouldn’t we create a learning environment adjusted to fit their natural attributes?
